Mariposa is located at the Southern end of the Gold Chain Highway (49) and is the closest gateway to Yosemite Valley. Hwy 140 also comes through Mariposa and is referred to as "the all weather highway". Mariposa was once the largest county in state and thus our tag line; "The mother of all Counties".
With Yosemite in our back yard, rolling foothills to the west, Sierra mountain range to our east, Lakes McClure and McSwain to the North and the Chowchilla river to the south, there is something in Mariposa for everyone. To learn more about our region; Click on the Community link above.
